We are not machines

We spend a lot of money trying to "buy" more productivity, but waste time and money, because we are not machines.

Our brain believes that the performance of our work is proportional to the amount of money we pay for it.

I put it another way: We are inclined to think that working hard (with enthusiasm) if we pay a lot and we work recently (reluctantly) if we pay little.

I will say a few circumstances in which this is so.

If an employer offers 100 to do task A, workers get only if there is another employer that offers 110 by doing the same task.

If labor market conditions were such, the first employer will struggle to recruit and retain staff because a majority seek to work for the second.

If the first increase its offer to match the second, both have the same acceptance.

Very simply, I dare say that a good salary will "ensure" more and better workers longer, but no more output per person.

What never happens is that the worker's performance is directly proportional to the money paid. That is, if someone presses 20 nuts per minute charging 100, no double charging tighten 21.

This seems illogical to those who assume that human beings are machines, but are not machines. The stimuli that accelerate or slow down our performance are much more subtle.

The machines can accelerate production consume more fuel, but again, we are not machines or the wage is a fuel for workers.

For both employers and the employees, would be ideal if we were machines, because we enfermaríamos, we would be immortal and our production could be controlled by money.

We spend a lot of money trying to "buy" more productivity, but waste time and money, because we are not machines.
